Lieutenant Nora Salter, the "nuclear option with a ponytail", is Nick's trusted wingwoman who follows him into combat throughout the game, and easily the biggest and most prominent female badass in Call of Duty to date.
Enemy aces serve as Elite Mooks in the dogfight sections. The SATO pilot fighter craft called the "Jackal" can be upgraded and customized to suit the play-style of the user. The dogfighting sequences establishes Captain Reyes as this, though the SATO's best pilot is Lieutenant Nora Salter. Averted with N3IL in Zombies in Spaceland due to being helpful by giving tickets and bringing the Hoff to help, but played straight in The Beast from Beyond with N3IL turning on traps and shutting doors in order to kill you. This is used by Set Def to devastating effect at Vesta 3, and by the player character against Set Def on several occasions. However, it is fairly easy to hack the "dumb" combat bots and mechs and turn them on the masters, and it's possible to hack Ethan, at least with his permission. Omar still believes in this trope, however, until after the mission on the Lunar Gateway is completed. While he can and does refuse orders from humans (including, on one notable occasion in the upper atmosphere of Titan, his commanding officer), he's portrayed as annoying at worst and generally more loyal than most human soldiers. There's a new spider robot grenade that crawls along the ground and actually attempts to mount enemies before exploding. Some new gadgets and guns show up, like a shotgun that seems to trace target outlines for longer range precision. Honestly, if you put that level and a bunch of other ones from recent, modern call of Duty games, in a line and made me watch them all together, I don't think I'd be able to place this new level with the right game. The Geneva, Switzerland level? I don't know.
I won't lie, all of that stuff seems genuinely new and interesting, and it has me actually excited to see more of Infinite Warfare. They move inside, and the battle still seems unique with tight corridors and interesting segments that take advantage of the in-space setting. It looks pretty interesting, doesn't it? You're commanding a ship, selecting where to go, piloting a combat ship in off-rails segments, fighting out in space with a grappling hook and using all sorts of zero-gravity tactics.
